The Clash

The Clash by Hans Hofmann shows a sheet of paint pushed and pulled across the surface. Colours press against each other, with hard edges and quick dabs that seem to move toward the middle.

This fine art print arrives ready to hang. A metal hanger is fitted to the back, so it goes straight onto a nail or screw. No separate frame to buy. The matte paper keeps the pushed colour soft and holds the hard edges without a shine.

On a bedroom wall near a low lamp, the warm and cool areas separate at night. From the side of the bed you notice the fast pencil lines under the paint. The shapes stay clear even when you sit on the floor beside the wall.
