About this work
The Sun Rises Twice, Per 3, Per 4 - 1973 by Alfred Jensen uses a numbered grid of coloured squares laid out in strict rows. The palette moves through yellow, orange and red across the board. This belongs to the post war geometric abstraction practice where the maker builds order from repeated units.
The fine art print goes straight onto a nail. The frame is offered in white, wood, dark wood or black so you can choose what sits beside the colour bands. Each finish gives the picture a clear edge on the wall and keeps the grid lines sharp.
It sits on the kitchen wall near the table. From the breakfast spot you see the rows of coloured squares and the black frame edge.
