Blue Rose

Blue Rose - 1967 shows a painted shape that reads as a flower without drawing every petal. The surface carries a thin wash of blue laid over a lighter ground, with a few darker passes left where the brush slowed.

This is a fine art print set in a frame with a back panel. The printed blue keeps its soft tone because the paper does not shine under a lamp. The frame holds the sheet flat and the back panel keeps the edges tidy on the wall. When the ready to hang option is used it arrives assembled.

It works on the wall of a study above a wooden desk where the afternoon light comes from the side. You notice the blue shape first, then the small changes in the painted surface as you step closer.
