Untitled No 8 — Fine Art

Untitled No 8 - 1932 shows painted shapes laid over a flat field. The colours sit in broad areas, and a few brushed lines cross the surface without breaking the calm. John Ferren worked with painted ground and built colour in layers during this period.

The fine art print goes straight onto a nail. The finish is white, and the frame gives this image a clean border on the wall. That white edge keeps the painted field separate from the room and makes the broad colour areas read clearly.

In a dining room, the picture sits on the wall above the table. You notice the broad painted areas first, then the thin crossing lines as you set down a plate.
