Jay DeFeo built up thick layers of paint over many years in her Bay Area work. This screen print keeps that approach, with marks that look pushed and layered on the sheet.

The fine art print goes straight onto a nail. The title Origin points to that slow build of form. The image reads as a rough block of shape and tone, set down in a strong dark band with lighter marks around it. A metal hanger is fitted to the back, so the print goes straight onto a nail or screw.

No frame is needed. The hanger lets it sit flat against the wall without extra fittings. You notice the layered marks first in a narrow hallway, where the dark band catches the light from a single bulb and the lighter marks show up on either side.
