Constructions chimériques by Jean

Constructions chimériques by Jean-Paul Riopelle sits on a glossy surface. Jean-Paul Riopelle used thick paint strokes across the sheet.

Blue and green tones press against darker patches that break the surface. The work feels built from layered bits rather than drawn in one pass.

A fine art reproduction keeps those paint ridges visible without adding shine under a desk lamp. The frame finish can follow the room, a light frame on a dark wall, a dark frame on a pale wall, or a wood frame beside wooden furniture. In a study room the colours read plainly from the desk and the small breaks between layers show when you stand near the door.
