Jute IV by Jean — Fine Art

Thick paint sits on the sheet in broken strokes, each one pressed hard enough to leave a ridge. Jute IV shows these marks spread across the surface with no single centre.

Jean-Paul Riopelle worked with a palette knife and fast hands, leaving visible ridges where the paint piles up. The fine art print keeps the knife marks clear on matte paper so the surface texture reads the same way.

A matte surface keeps the paint ridges soft under a ceiling light. Hang it on a hallway wall near the stairs. From the landing below you see the broken strokes, and from the landing above you see the small ridges where the paint gathered.
