About this work

The Sermon

The Sermon by Odilon Redon places a group of figures in a dark space. Lines press hard in some places and fade in others. A few faces turn upward while the rest turn away. The marks move slowly across the page and leave a quiet mood behind.

This is a fine art print set in a frame with a back panel. The matte paper keeps the dark ground flat and the rough line work stays readable.

It can go on the wall beside a desk in a study. From the chair you see the pressure of the line first and the faces only when you move closer.
