Sydney Laurence was an American painter celebrated for his atmospheric, luminous depictions of the Alaskan wilderness - Mount McKinley (Denali), boreal forests, and frozen rivers - rendered with romantic grandeur and golden northern light. He is considered the father of Alaskan art.
