28 10 2001 2001 by Zao Wou-Ki — Fine Art

The title 28 10 2001 2001 points to a date on a large abstract canvas by Zao Wou-Ki, built from colour fields and soft edges drawn from his oil painting practice.

You get the fine art print with a hanger already on the back. Broad bands of washed tone move across the surface, with the edges blurred so one colour steps into the next.

The surface is matte, so the shifts between tones stay quiet and the frame finish can follow the room, a light frame on a dark wall or a wood frame beside wooden furniture. It suits a dining room wall where the evening light is soft, and from the table you see the broad colour bands and the slow way one tone fades into another.
