A Green Thought in a Green Shade, 1981

A Green Thought in a Green Shade shows bands of cool green resting against softer blue-green ground. The colour sits in calm layers across the surface. Helen Frankenthaler painted with thin washes that let the ground show through. The work keeps a quiet tone and no hard outline.

This fine art print comes with a white, wood, dark wood or black frame. The frame gives the picture a clean edge on the wall. A white frame keeps the greens from feeling closed in. A dark wood frame holds the cool tones steady.

It fits a hallway wall where the light runs even through the day. From the stair landing you see the green bands across the top, and the frame edge sets the shape against the plaster.
