A Piece of the Pie — Fine Art

A Piece of the Pie - Conceptual Art by Billy Apple uses text and simple marks on a plain ground. The work keeps to words and small painted signals, a common way in conceptual art of the late twentieth century. The page reads as a record of an idea, not a scene to enter.

The fine art print sits on a sheet that takes the ink without shine, so the text stays plain and the marks do not glare under a lamp.

It fits a hallway wall where you pass by and catch the words as you walk to the stairs. From there the text reads as a short note, and the small marks sit quietly beside the words, not asking to be read all at once.
