About this work
A Time for Fear - 1949 shows a dark field with a few sharp lines cutting across it. The lines feel placed by hand, not drawn with a ruler. Jimmy Ernst often worked with ink and paper, building images from clear marks on a plain ground.
This fine art reproduction arrives ready to hang on a nail or screw. The metal hanger is fitted to the back, so you do not need to look for a frame. The paper is matte, which keeps the dark tones from shining under a lamp.
It sits on a kitchen wall near the sink, where the worktop is white. From the doorway you notice the dark band across the picture, and near the stove you see the small pencil lines at the edge.
