About this work
Algerian Landscape The Ravine of the Wild Women shows a narrow passage between rocky walls. The eye moves down a straighter path toward a darker opening.
Empty ground sits beside the path. Pierre-Auguste Renoir painted this scene with separate brush strokes, in a post impressionist style. The fine art print uses matte paper so the colours stay soft under lamp light.
A light frame on a dark wall keeps the pale ground readable from the door. It works well on a bedroom wall above the bed. From the bedside you see the broad rock shapes first, then the thinner strokes on the path.
