About this work
Avenza Revisited II 1969 shows a set of drawn lines that cross and fold back across the sheet. The marks read as hand drawn and uneven. Louise Bourgeois made this in her later working years. The shapes feel pulled together by pressure rather than by a ruler.
The fine art finish keeps the drawing soft under normal room light. A dark frame on a pale wall lets the cross lines stand apart without a bright border. The paper holds the pencil tone without extra shine.
On a stairwell landing the lines pick up the small changes in shade on the steps. From the bottom step you read the crossings first. Nearer the top you notice where the lines stop short.
