About this work
Between St Peter and Sistine Chapel March 1936 shows a narrow passage drawn with fine pen lines. MC Escher worked in black ink on paper, building tone through hatching and crosshatching.
The picture uses clean white space and dark drawn lines that hold their shape on the page. A fine art print keeps these drawn edges sharp.
The white frame gives the paper a clean border and lets the black lines stand out without a heavy edge. You notice it on a hallway wall near a door where the daylight catches the paper and the drawn lines stay clear.
