About this work
A blue wash spreads across the sheet with soft edges that thin out toward the edges. The blue holds its own space without hard lines around it. Blue Bellows, 1976- follows the open field painting Helen Frankenthaler used to let colour soak into the surface.
This fine art print is ready to hang on arrival. The white frame gives the picture a clean edge that settles the blue field on the wall. You can choose wood or dark wood instead, and each one changes how the edge reads against the paint.
Hang it on a plain wall and step back across the room. The blue field holds the eye from a distance, and the thin edges only show when you move closer. It works above a long shelf where you see the whole wash at once.
