Butterfly Hearths s Exposures — Fine Art

The title points to a screen print practice where the artist repeats an image and lets each copy shift a little. Butterfly shapes and heart marks would sit across the sheet in bright flat colour, with the edges left clean and some space open between the forms.

Andy Warhol made these prints by running ink through a mesh so the colour sits on top of the paper in even layers. The fine art frame can follow the room, so a light frame works on a dark wall and a dark frame works on a pale wall.

Wood frames also sit well beside wooden furniture. Above a long sofa the repeated shapes read from across the room, and from close up the flat colour fills the eye without extra detail.
