About this work
Byzantium III - 1958 sets warm earth fields across the sheet. The eye lands on a broad ochre band, then drifts to a thinner brown stripe near the lower edge. Empty space holds the shapes together. Theodoros Stamos built this kind of painting with broad colour areas and a steady hand.
You get the fine art print with a hanger already on the back. The paper is matte, so the warm tones stay even and there is no glare under a lamp. A light frame on a dark wall lets the brown lines stand apart. A wood frame beside wooden furniture keeps the tones close.
It fits a study wall above a desk. From the doorway you see the broad band first, then the thin line below it. The empty top keeps the wall calm.
