Cake Slice — Fine Art

Cake Slice - 1979 shows a wedge of cake sitting on a plate. The pastel frosting sits over a darker surface.

Wayne Thiebaud paints the sweet object with thick paint laid on in clear layers. The brush moves in short strokes that leave a textured surface on the sheet. A fine art print carries the painted shapes onto a matte sheet.

The frame finish can follow the room, so a light frame sits on a darker wall or a wood frame beside wooden furniture. It hangs on the kitchen wall above the counter. The edge of the plate meets the painted frosting as you pass by.
