Candles — Fine Art

Candles by Gerhard Richter shows tall flames on a dark ground, each one drawn with thin strokes that leave the wax soft and the light warm. The marks vary in length, as if the hand moved quickly and then paused.

The object is a fine art print set in a frame with a back panel. The matte surface keeps the dark tones steady and the small yellow points stay clear against the black.

It fits a dining room wall near the table. From the door you see the bright tops first, and when you sit down the flames rise above the serving dishes on the sideboard.
