Collage

A plain field of grey and white holds a few torn paper shapes in the Collage - 1938. The darker grey sits against the white, and the edges of the paper stay hard and uneven.

You get the fine art print with a hanger already on the back. Ad Reinhardt built the sheet from cut bits of paper laid in a few thin bands. The matte paper keeps the grey soft and stops shine under a lamp.

The metal hanger on the back fits onto a nail, so the piece goes up straight on the wall without a frame to buy. In a hallway with soft ceiling light the greys look even from the bottom step, and the torn paper edges show up as you pass the corner.
