About this work
Colourful Ensemble 1938 puts coloured bands and small blocks on the page. The eye lands on a red shape near the centre, then travels to a blue curve below it. Empty paper sits between the marks, leaving room around them.
You get the fine art print with a hanger already on the back. Wassily Kandinsky built the work from separate colour patches rather than one continuous line. The hanger on the back takes the sheet straight onto a nail or screw. There is no separate frame to buy.
The paper is matte, so the bright reds stay dull instead of shining. A hallway wall with pale plaster keeps the reds clear. From the far end you see the big blocks first, then the smaller lines as you walk past.
