Composition 1

Composition 1 by Henri Michaux shows a grid of small written marks spread over a plain ground. The strokes stay close to one another and leave open space between them. From a doorway the page reads as a quiet pattern with no strong colour.

Up close the pencil lines are the main detail. The paper is matte so the grey tones stay even under a lamp. A metal hanger is fitted to the back and the print goes straight onto a nail or screw.

No separate frame is needed. Composition 1 is a fine art print that stays flat on the wall. It sits on a hallway landing wall where the marks stay readable at a distance and the paper stays calm under overhead light.
