Composition with Gray and Light Brown — Fine Art

Composition with Gray and Light Brown by Piet Mondrian sets gray and light brown shapes against a flat ground. The blocks sit apart and the lines stay straight. You look at the blocks and the open space between them.

The fine art print uses a matte sheet, so the gray tones stay soft under a lamp. A light frame on a dark wall makes the brown shapes stand out. A dark frame on a pale wall gives the gray a quieter look.

In a reading corner the print hangs on the side wall near a desk. From the chair you see the gray block first, then the brown one. The light from the lamp falls on the flat surface.
