Composition with Green and Blue — Fine Art

Composition with Green and Blue by Sonia Delaunay shows curved colour bands and rings laid across a flat ground. Green and blue pull against each other while the shapes overlap in a steady rhythm. The colours stay separate instead of blending.

The fine art paper keeps the green and blue tones clear, so the bands read as flat colour rather than fading into the background. A light frame on a dark wall keeps the eye on the rings, and a dark frame on a pale wall lets the green read first.

It works on a bedroom wall above the bed. From the foot of the bed you see the largest blue band first, and closer up you notice the thin green arcs crossing it.
