%D1%81ouleurs Idees 1 — Fine Art

The title Couleurs Idees 1 points to a work built from coloured segments and sharp turning lines. Sonia Delaunay arranged bright tones against each other so the eye moves from one patch to the next. The mark is flat colour, cut into planes that meet at clear edges.

This fine art print sits on a matte sheet, so the bright tones stay even and do not reflect a lamp. A light frame on a dark wall keeps the colour areas clear, while a dark frame on a pale wall lets the segments step forward.

It hangs on the dining room wall near the table, where the moving colours catch the eye across the room during a meal. From the doorway the big colour blocks read first, and the turning lines become clear when you stand closer.
