Dancers on a Plane 1981 sets bold stripes of red, yellow and black against a soft grey ground.

The fine art print goes straight onto a nail. The shapes sit flat and side by side, with no clear depth between them. Jasper Johns built the picture with thick paint laid on in measured bands, a method tied to his postwar american painting practice.

The metal hanger on the back lets you fix it straight to a wall nail without a frame, so the flat colour bands stay close to the plaster. It works on a dining room wall where the afternoon light runs along the stripes and the grey tone settles the room.
