Dionysius — Fine Art

A single vertical band rises through a wide field of colour in Dionysius. The colour is deep, almost black at the edges and lighter near the centre. Barnett Newman painted these zones of colour with large, even fields and sharp edges.

The fine art print uses matte paper, so the dark tones stay even and the light area does not shine under a lamp. A frame finish can follow the room, with a light frame on a dark wall or a wood frame beside wooden furniture.

It fits on a hallway wall beside a coat stand, where the light from the ceiling hits the surface at an angle. From the stairs you catch the single band before the wall itself. The colour holds its shape without shrinking into the plaster.
