About this work
Eight Colour Groups - 1947 sets out eight bands of colour in a steady row. The shapes keep the same width and the colours shift step by step. Max Bill built his work from clear order and simple colour choices. The bands do not overlap and each one holds a single flat tone.
This is a fine art print set in a frame with a back panel. The frame keeps the edges neat and the back panel keeps the sheet flat. You see the colour bands without glare on the glass.
It fits on a kitchen wall above the counter where the morning light moves across the bands. You notice the colour steps while you wait for the kettle. The frame keeps the row clean against the tiles and the back panel stays firm on the wall.
