The title points to a written record for the dead. Epitaph Painting 5 - 2001 uses a narrow range of tones on a flat ground. A darker band near the centre holds the eye. The rest of the field stays open. Brice Marden worked with beeswax and pigment for this kind of work.

You get the fine art print with a hanger already on the back. The print arrives ready to hang, with a metal hanger fitted to the back that goes straight onto a nail or screw. You do not need a separate frame.

It suits a hallway wall where you pass it each day. From the stair landing you notice the dark band first. Closer in you see the slow drawn lines that pull the surface apart.
