Equinox

The title Equinox points to a balanced turn of the year. Hans Hofmann built the picture with broad paint strokes that meet and press against each other. You can feel the speed in each pass of the brush.

This fine art print arrives ready to hang. A metal hanger is fitted to the back, so it goes straight onto a nail or screw. You do not need to buy a separate frame. The matte paper keeps the paint tones soft and stops glare under a lamp.

It fits above a desk in a study. From the chair you notice the big colour passages first. From the doorway you see the smaller marks where the strokes cross. The balance in the title matches the way the marks split the picture.
