About this work
February 1981 by Susan Rothenberg reads as a horse figure set against a plain field. The line work keeps the head and the shoulders clear, and the pale ground leaves room around the form. At a distance the shape reads as one calm figure.
The fine art print uses a matte sheet so the grey tones stay even and the ground does not shine under a lamp. A light frame on a dark wall lets the open field stay open, and a dark frame on a pale wall keeps the horse figure steady.
On a hallway wall beside a coat hook, the figure hangs at shoulder height and the eye moves to the head first. From the stairs you see the shape of the horse, and on the landing you notice the small line changes near the jaw.
