About this work
Fleurs et fruits - 1920 shows plant forms drawn with close pressure and repeated strokes. Seraphine Louis worked with flowers and fruit from her surroundings. The lines gather over the same shape, and the marks stay close together where the drawing is dark. A fine art print carries this study of plant forms on paper.
The print arrives ready to hang, with a metal hanger fitted to the back that goes straight onto a nail or screw. No separate frame to buy. On the paper the dense marks sit beside empty space, so the hanger keeps the sheet flat against the wall.
In a kitchen, the plant shapes read well above a counter. From the doorway you see the dark strokes and the open ground, and near the sink you notice how the lines slow down and stop.
