Flodden

Flodden - 1978 by Albert Irvin shows wide sweeps of paint set against a light ground. The marks move across the sheet with a loose hand. Tonal colour areas run through the image in a post war abstract style.

This fine art print arrives ready to hang, with a metal hanger on the back that fits onto a nail. The matte paper keeps the colour fields even, so the picture sits quietly on the wall.

A hall landing works well for this picture. From the stair you see the broad bands first, then the small shifts in tone as you pass by.
