About this work
Flowers - 1912 shows a loose arrangement of blooms against a soft ground. The petals spread in warm reds and pinks with darker leaves below. The marks sit in thin layers, a method common in the work of Natalia Goncharova during the early twentieth century avant garde period.
The fine art print goes straight onto a nail. The frame finish can follow the room, a light frame on a dark wall or a wood frame beside wooden furniture. The matte paper keeps the reds and greens from shining under a lamp, so the petals read as flat colour rather than gloss.
It suits a narrow wall in a hallway where the light stays soft. From the stair landing you see the warm colour blocks, and up close the thin brush lines fill out the petals.
