Flurry - 1967 by Adolph Gottlieb shows a field of marks that suggest movement across the ground. The shapes cluster in the centre and spread out toward the edges. You see it differently when you stand close than when you step back.

The fine art print goes straight onto a nail. Up close the paint looks built in layers. From a distance the marks read as a single dark field with lighter breaks. The paper is matte, so the greys stay soft and there is no shine under a lamp.
