About this work
A still life group of fruit and a quiet stretch of water share the picture. Fruit by the shore 1992 sets the shapes along a low band, with open space above. Mary Fedden painted this kind of calm arrangement often. The eye rests on the round forms before it reaches the pale field behind.
The fine art print uses matte paper, so the soft edges of the fruit stay gentle and the water area does not shine under a lamp. A light frame suits a pale wall, or a wood frame sits beside a wooden table.
It fits a kitchen wall above the sink, where the light comes from the side. From the doorway you see the round fruit shapes first. Standing near the counter, the water band stays simple and the empty space above feels calm.
