Garden Sculpture — Fine Art

Garden Sculpture - 1996 by Dieter Roth sets a garden figure against a plain ground. The eye finds the dark shape first, then rests on the open space around it. Dieter Roth often used found materials and everyday objects in his practice, and the picture keeps that plain record of a form.

The fine art print comes with a white, wood, dark wood or black frame finished edge. That edge gives the work a clear line on the wall and lets the open space do the work. You see the dark shape and the empty ground first, before the frame.

On a dining room wall, the figure reads as one solid shape at table height. From the chair you notice the flat ground and the dark form, with the frame sitting just outside the picture.
