Gc53 - 1963 shows a quiet arrangement of soft blocks and thin lines laid over a muted ground. Giorgio Cavallon worked in postwar American abstraction with handled brush marks and uneven edges. The shapes sit side by side and leave open gaps between them.

This fine art print keeps the lighter passages soft because the paper has a matte finish. A light frame on a darker wall lets the pale areas read without glare from a ceiling light.

It suits a hallway wall with a warm overhead lamp. From the far end you notice the wider bands, closer you see the small breaks in the paint.
