Grand Blue Sun-Box - 1969 sits on the sheet with a wide blue field and a rounded sun shape near the centre. The colour fields meet without sharp borders, and the pale ground holds the marks in a quiet way. Theodoros Stamos often worked with simple shapes and open colour in this mid century abstract painting period.
