About this work

Green Abstract

Green Abstract - 1966 uses a green ground with softer marks placed across it. The colour stays calm because the tones sit close together. You notice the green first, then the weaker marks that shift the eye without pulling hard. Gebre Kristos Desta worked with colour fields that hold the picture together.

The object is a fine art print set in a frame with a back panel. The frame holds the sheet flat and the back panel keeps it square when you handle it. With the ready to hang option it arrives assembled.

In a bedroom on the far wall, the green stays soft under a bedside lamp. The marks read as quiet changes in the same tone. You see the sheet more clearly when you stand a little farther back.
