Green Angel — Fine Art

Green Angel shows a figure with wings standing on a plain ground. The paint sits in layers over the surface.

The fine art print goes straight onto a nail. Jasper Johns worked in this way to build up the picture. You see the broad stroke first, then the smaller marks when you draw nearer. A white frame gives the edge a clean line that matches the restrained tone of the image.

The frame sits flat against the picture and stops the eye from drifting past the edge. It holds its place on the dining room wall above the sideboard. From the table you notice the wing shape, and from the doorway the outline reads as one quiet figure.
