Hiver — Fine Art

Hiver - 1950 by Alfred Manessier shows a winter scene built from dark horizontal strokes and a thin pale band near the top. The marks sit in layers, as if snow and bare ground were worked from a single sheet. Alfred Manessier often used this kind of layered mark making in his post war work.

This is a fine art print set in a frame with a back panel. The frame holds the paper flat while the back panel keeps dust away. When the ready to hang option is used, the piece arrives assembled on its hook.

It looks settled in a bedroom corridor where the light stays dim. From the door you see the dark bands across the lower half, and from a step closer the thin pale line above them.
