Horizontal Colour Bands and Vertical Colour Bands I — Fine Art

Horizontal Colour Bands and Vertical Colour Bands I by Sol LeWitt uses straight bands of colour that run across the sheet in two directions. The bands sit side by side without blending. The work belongs to the systematic art practice of Sol LeWitt, where a simple rule builds the whole image.

The print arrives as a fine art print set in a frame with a back panel. The frame keeps the bands level and the back panel holds the sheet flat against the wall. You get a ready to hang piece that shows the bands without glare under a lamp.

It fits on a long hallway wall where you pass it each morning. From the door the bands run across your view. Step closer and the even edges hold your eye. The flat colours stay clear against a bare wall.
