Hot Beat - 1964 by Gene Davis uses painted bands of colour set across the sheet. The stripes step in hue from one band to the next. The eye enters at the thinner marks near the centre. Gene Davis worked with flat colour and hard edges in his stripe practice.

This fine art print sits in a frame with a back panel. It arrives assembled when the ready to hang option is used. The matte surface keeps the colour steps soft and the edges stay crisp.

On a hallway wall the bands run along the length of the space. From the far end the colour steps read as one row of tone. Up close the paint lines show their width.
