Houses in Provence, near Gardanne — Fine Art

Houses in Provence, near Gardanne by Paul Cezanne shows small houses set against a wide land. The painted surfaces break into short blocks of ochre and green. Each house sits on the slope with a roof line drawn in a steady hand.

This fine art piece uses a matte finish so the warm ground stays soft under a lamp. The frame follows the room, a pale frame on a dark wall keeps the houses clear.

A hallway wall near the stairs catches the print in the evening. From the landing you see the pale roofs first, then the small windows as you walk past.
