About this work
Improvisation 28 Second Version 1912 shows a field of marks set over a quiet sheet. Wassily Kandinsky arranged lines and colour patches so they move in several directions at once. The picture reads as a study of sound turned into shape.
The fine art print goes straight onto a nail. The matte paper holds the soft tones without shine, and a light frame on a dark wall makes the small colour patches stand out. You can sit with the image and watch the marks shift as the light changes.
It suits a reading corner placed on a low shelf where the light falls from the side. From there the loose lines feel separate from the room around them, and the marks stay open and odd.
