About this work
Loose bands of dark blue and deep red cross a pale field in Improvisation 7 1910. Lines curve and meet in short strokes that suggest a music-like rhythm. Wassily Kandinsky belonged to the early abstract painting movement, where colour and line worked without a clear subject.
This fine art print arrives ready to hang, with a metal hanger fitted to the back that goes straight onto a nail or screw. No separate frame needs buying. The flat face keeps the pale background and dark marks even under room light.
It sits on a plaster wall in a small study, where a desk lamp throws a warm glow over the top edge. You notice the red bands first, then the thinner blue lines below them. The picture stays quiet when the room is still.
