About this work
Big soft colour bands cross the sheet in a loose horizontal rhythm. The title Infinity field, Nemea Series #5 - 1973 points to that open field of tone. The artist Theodoros Stamos worked with broad shapes and simple colour in the abstract expressionist style. You see layers of tone laid over a pale ground.
This product is a fine art print set in a frame, with a back panel. The frame holds the print flat and the back panel keeps it ready to hang. The matte surface keeps the soft edges quiet and the pale ground between bands stays even.
It fits well above a long desk in a study. From the doorway the broad bands read as one shape. From the chair you notice the thin line where one band meets the next.
